Hello everyone, Writing is the skill that can be considered the most difficult in the IELTS test and getting on the band will take more time than the other 3 skills.
However, I say that is not impossible to learn Writing skills well. Like the 3 skills of Reading, Speaking, Listening, and Writing, there are also common rules, and if you know those rules, plus diligently reading the sample lesson and practicing writing a lot, I’m sure you won’t. being made difficult by Writing.
To conquer Writing 7.0+, please help me remember the following things!
7.0 IELTS Writing is not impossible
I. AVOID BASIC ERRORS WHEN PREPARED
Most of you, when practicing writing especially with beginners, will often make the following basic mistakes. These are all errors that need to be improved immediately so that you can write “smooth” and better articles.
The basic mistakes to avoid are:
– Do not abbreviate, do not write numbers (except when writing the year);
– Do not use FANBOYS at the beginning of a sentence: FANBOYS – For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So;
– Do not express personal feelings (love, like, hate, anger, …);
– Do not use words with absolute extremes such as Always, Never, No, Every, All or absolute expressions such as using the simple present tense, but instead should be replaced with words with reduced affirmation such as Can, May, Might, It’s likely, It’s probably/ possible;
– Do not use questions in the article;
– Do not write too long, the ideal limit for Task 1 is from 150 to 180 words; for Task 2 250-350 words (maybe a little larger);
– Do not take personal examples, only examples with clear scientific basis.
Specifically analyzing a few errors to pay attention to:
1. DON’T PARTICIPATE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SUBJECT INTO THE POST
This is one of the shortcomings that leads to your article not being appreciated. Why?
Because if you include the same sentences in the requirements of the test in the introduction or conclusion, the examiner will underestimate your ability to change words and structure because you just write them exactly like them without any questions. what change.
So, when you start writing, learn how to paraphrase the topic to avoid using 100% of people’s words.
|For example: “Scientists predict in the near future cars will be driven by computers, not people. Why? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?”|
With this topic, you can write an opening sentence for your article like this: “In the near future, computers or robots will replace humans to drive public transports such as cars…”
Thus, when you paraphrase the topic again, you will bring a very new feeling to the examiner when they see that you have been flexible in using sentences and not copying the same topic into the article.
I understand, with some difficult questions, it will be difficult for you to paraphrase because the topic itself already uses very good sentences and words.
However, the test will never use words and structures that are too good for you to paraphrase in a different way. Then, use active and passive forms flexibly or substitute a few words so that at least your sentence will be different from the topic. Please pay attention!
2. DON’T USE PASSIVE WORDS
Informal words or “informal words” should be avoided in IELTS Writing tests because IELTS Writing is simply a formal article so there will be no room for informal words.
So what is the solution?
Read as many samples as possible because the samples are the best source for you to follow the formal grammar and vocabulary structures in them. After reading, remember to write down these cool words and structures so you can make them yours and use them again in the future.
A lot of => A huge number of, a great amount of
3. DOES NOT COMPLETE THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SUBJECT
Even if you have a good amount of vocabulary or structure written in your essay and you do not meet the requirements of the test, the examiner will not be able to give you a high score. This is the minimum you need to follow when taking the IELTS Writing test.
You pay attention, you only do what is required by the task, do not write too much and do not write too little. The required topics”Give your opinion” Only then will you give your personal opinion, and without this request, you will only present your objective views.
Abbreviations in IELTS Writing are taboo.
Instead, you should write out all the words, including the names of international organizations. With the names of international organizations, please write the full name and then open brackets the abbreviation of that organization as in the example below.
|For example: |
Something’s => Something has/ Something is
Something’ll => Something will
…’re => …are
WHO => World Health Organization (WHO)
5. DO NOT WRITE TOO LONG AS TOO SHORT
For IELTS Writing Task 1, the test requires you to write at least 150 words and for Task 2 is 250 words.
So this is a fairly standard length for your article, so you should only write a limit of 150 – 200 words for Task 1 and 250 – 350 words (Task 2 can be up to 400-500 words is also ok because often need to explain a lot. than with some topics) please.
Writing too long, your writing will be lengthy, lengthy and if you do not write well, this will be the time when your weak points in logic between ideas, grammar or incorrect vocabulary will be lost. reveal.
Similarly, if you write too short, your essay will be underestimated because you cannot express your ideas to the required length; so your post will not be appreciated then.
Remember to adhere to the length as I mentioned above so that you can ensure the necessary length for your article!

2. SELECTED DOCUMENTS USE
This is the most important part of your writing practice, especially when you want to increase your writing band. A lot of you ask me to learn Writing, how to choose the materials and how to study. I have some suggestions for documents as follows:
– Academic Writing Practice for IELTS: The book is very good, teaches you in detail what steps to do a complete Task 1 and Task 2. I highly recommend this book to those who are new to writing.
Download Link: HERE.
– Intensive IELTS Writing: This book teaches writing single sentences, which is great for complete writing; In addition, there are many sample articles for your reference.
Download Link: HERE.
– IELTS Writing Recent Actual Tests: Similar to the Intensive IELTS Writing book above, this book has a vocabulary upgrade section, which is very useful for diversifying expressions.
Download Link: HERE.
– IELTS Writing Strategies for the IELTS Test: This book has a lot of good samples, but this book I think is not as good as the 3 books above because the book layout is quite fragmented and there are some parts that are not very focused on the IELTS test.

It’s about the document section, so when we have the documents, how should we learn to make the most of the value of the documents we have?
Surely you have to accumulate a lot of new words and good structure to be able to write well.
➨ For each article topic, you should not always read the sample essay but “brainstorm”. Think about the ideas you will write in the article, then make an outline on a separate sheet of paper, underline the ideas you will be writing in the article and sketch a few new words you can use.
After the outline is made, then you should read the sample article, read the sample article to get more good ideas and the vocabulary and “top” structure in the lesson.
After you have finished reading the sample essay and have a framework for the essay, put your pen and press the correct time to write and gradually apply pressure in the exam room.
➨ In order to have a high band of IELTS Writing, you need to pay attention to the following 3 factors: Scientific and logical ideas and examples together, New words + diverse structures and ABSOLUTELY NO WRITE WRONG OR WRONG MR. FRANCE.
Learning new words and new structures for Writing skills should be done at least 2.5 hours/day and done daily. Please actively read many sample articles to continuously update vocabulary and good sentence structure when writing.
CONCLUDE: These are the 2 most basic things and cover the entire Writing skill, so in order to have a high band of Writing scores, in addition to doing the above 2 things as I suggested, you have to keep in mind that you DON’T be discouraged. .
I know that self-study can be frustrating at times. Therefore, motivate yourself to try and work hard, you will get the results you deserve.
Good luck with your studies!
