Methodology The study, published in the Journal of Gambling Studies, analyzed data from the 2019 Ontario Student Drug Use and Health Survey, which surveyed 11,835 high school students and post-secondary students in Ontario, Canada. The survey asked about various forms of gambling, including lotteries, sports betting, and online gambling, as well as factors such as frequency, amount of money spent, and perceived risk of harm.

Key Findings The study found that online gambling was the most common form of gambling among young adults, with nearly 37% of respondents reporting that they had gambled online in the past year. This was followed by lottery tickets (31%), scratch tickets (24%), and sports betting (15%). The authors note that this is in line with previous studies that have found online gambling to be more popular among younger adults compared to older age groups.
